    Volunteering

    Each family of a Cinco Ranch Swim Team swimmer is required to volunteer to help with the swim meets. The following are the requirements, policies and procedures for all volunteers during a normal swim season. ***JOB SIGNUP IS ON THE SWIM MEETS TAB***

    Minimum Requirements

    Each family must volunteer a certain number of times during each of the meets, during the swim season, based upon the number of swimmers in that family:

    1 Swimmer (14yrs or under) = 2 volunteer requirements
    2 Swimmers (14yrs or under) = 4 volunteer requirements
    3 or more Swimmers (14yrs or under) = 5 volunteer requirements

    Each family is required to commit to their volunteer duties. All families will receive email notification when volunteer sign-ups are open and must sign up for the appropriate number of positions in order for their swimmers to be eligible to swim the next season.

    All volunteers must complete Athlete Protection Training

    Volunteer Job Descriptions

    • Set Up/Take Down - Work with the Set Up/Take Down Coordinator and use maps to prepare the pool area for meet (6:00am for Saturday meets and 3:30pm for weekday meets) and restore area to pre-meet condition after meet is over. Responsible for setting up benches and chairs, roping off areas, setting up tents and place signs for swimmer areas. At the end of the meet, responsible for take down, storage, and clean up. You will be directed by our set up/take down leads. *This is a great job for those who need to fulfill two required volunteer shifts in one meet because you can also volunteer for another position during the meet. Also, a great job for those that want to sit and enjoy the meet and not have a job during the meet.
    • Stroke Turn Judge - WE NEED NEW JUDGES! Online and in person training required for this role. You will watch the swimmers in your assigned lanes and report stroke or turn infractions to the Referee. (5 Stroke/Turn Judges per meet). **You do not need to have any swim experience to do this job**
    • Console Operator - Responsible for managing the console and the swim meet software. They will also receive the event timer sheets and double-check automatic times against the backup times. This role is REQUIRED to do an online training to become certified on the console.
    • Console Operator BACKUP - Responsible for assisting the Lead Console Operator in managing the Dolphin Wireless console and swim meet software. They will receive the event timer sheets and help double-check automatic times against the backup times. This role is REQUIRED to do an online training to become certified on the console.
    • Concessions - Work under the Concessions Coordinator to set up and sell food at home meets. You will also help clean up concessions at the end of the meet.
    • Bench Boss - Verify swimmers are in order on the benches just prior to their designated heats using heat sheets. Notify Ready Bench parents if there are any missing swimmers. A short, informal training will be held during practice in May.
    • Bench Parent - Take attendance and sit under tent with swimmers. Line up swimmers in proper order and escort them to the ready benches where the Bench Boss will assume responsibility. Make sure trash is picked up in your tent area after meet ends. Periodically collect ribbons for your tent from the ribbons table. Responsible for your tent for the entire meet.
    • 6 & Under Boys/Girls Bench Parent - This job is for a parent that ONLY has child/children in the 6 & Under age group. Take attendance and sit under tent with swimmers. Line up swimmers in proper order and escort them to the ready benches where the Bench Boss will assume responsibility. Make sure trash is picked up in your tent area after meet ends. Periodically collect ribbons for your tent from the ribbons table. Responsible for your tent until all 6 & Unders are finished swimming and picked-up by a parent.
    • Ribbons - Responsible for putting stickers on the appropriate placement ribbons with child’s name, event, time and placing in the age group folder. *This is a good job for anyone with limited mobility.
    • Lane Mats and Fans - This position is responsible for the care and transportation of all lane mats for the two home meets, as well as the fans for all four meets. The selected individual must be available to attend all four meets. Responsibilities include transporting lane mats to each home meet, ensuring they are properly dried after use, charging all fan batteries, transporting the fans to and from each meet and storing lane mats and fans in between meets.
    • Runner - Responsible for taking timecards from the timers to the score keeping table or running scorecards to ribbon table at the end of each race. This job may also be asked to assist with ribbons toward the end of the meet.
    • Timer - Time for the entire meet with one other timer per lane. Write swimmer info and time on cards. *This is a good job if you don’t want to miss any of the action. You have a front row seat to every race.
    • Floater - Must complete Stroke/Turn Judge training. Will be placed in any open position at the meet as needed and determined by the Volunteer Coordinators.
